New Partnership Increases Glass Recycling in the Town of Breckenridge

Breckenridge, Colorado:  Through a new partnership with Clear Intentions, a local glass-processing company, the Town of Breckenridge has the opportunity to recycle 100% of its glass via multiple, convenient drop-off locations.

The new initiative is a program called Glass Stations, spearheaded by the Town of Breckenridge, with the help of Clear Intentions, which will collect glass separately from other recyclables, ensuring that every piece of glass from the town gets recycled.  “We are incredibly happy to partner with the Town of Breckenridge to improve and expand upon its successful recycling history.  With the addition of new Glass Stations, we can ensure this beautiful community is recycling every single bottle here locally in Colorado,” says Brittany Evans, president of Clear Intentions.

The first 3 locations are already open for glass-only recycling at:

  • Breckenridge Rec Center, 880 Airport Rd, Breckenridge, CO 80424, open 24/7
  • Stephen C West Ice Arena, 189 Boreas Pass Rd, Breckenridge, CO 80424, open 24/7
  • Summit County Library - South Branch, 103 S Harris St, Breckenridge, CO 80424, open 24/7

The Town of Breckenridge and Clear Intentions will send out notices as other locations are added to this program.

To make collection simple and convenient for residents, each Glass Station has an informative diagram outlining what types of glass are and are not accepted. This program accepts all colors of wine, beer, and liquor bottles, jars from food and condiments, as well as any type of drinking glass.  Materials that are not accepted in the program include Pyrex or any cookware (as it has different chemical properties), ceramic cups or dishes, mirrors, lightbulbs, or trash of any kind. Also, no plastic bags are accepted.

With the collection of glass separately from other recyclables, the Town of Breckenridge will be able to save money, reduce its environmental footprint, reduce its waste generation, and increase the total amount of other recycled materials due to less glass contamination.
